Iquad

Welcome to IQuad Technology.

The company was formed in 2004 and leverages key expertise from Formula1, Niche Automotive & Marine industry sectors.

Activity is divided between consulting in advanced structure design and applied R&D.

Scope of work

  • Cost-effective, innovative application of technology
  • Unique multi-material and composite structural design solutions
  • R&D into innovative recyclable high-performance composites
  • Advanced ultra-low energy vehicle platform development

A common theme is embodied in all of our projects:

Innovative, lightweight, low energy solutions using advanced technology

Consulting

Although the emphasis of our own product development is in the Automotive sector, the technologies we are developing are applicable to other sectors, particularly marine, aerospace and other transport sectors concerned with reducing carbon emissions. The technology is also suitable for lightweight, deployable temporary buildings. The problems we face as a developer of a competitive low investment lightweight vehicle structure are the same as other manufacturers in the Automotive and other Industry sectors. Advanced manufacturing technologies and design/development processes may also be cheaper than a conventional approach.

This has led to spin-off technologies from our development work and further opportunities for more focused future R&D. We are active in the Automotive and Marine sectors.

In low volume, there are often several options for manufacturing technology. It is not always easy to determine the most appropriate technology for a given application. IQuad Technology has considerable experience in this area.

IQuad Technology is involved in DTI-backed Technology Transfer and is currently working with several world-leading organizations in the Automotive and Marine sectors.

R&D

IQuad Technology is developing a new innovative composite material technology. The new technology is a thermoplastic ‘gel-coat’, enabling high-performance composite components to be achieved, which have a high quality, durable finish and are fully recyclable. The patented technology is compatible with numerous thermoplastics, development work so far has focused on modified polypropylene and polyamide systems. This is a low-investment technology that can be scaled to high volume and is appropriate for many applications in different industrial sectors including Automotive, Marine and Aerospace.

Product Development

IQuad Technology is developing a radically innovative, low carbon footprint family of vehicles for a wide range of market sectors. Having undertaken preliminary background research and fundraising in 2005, we are now in the R&D phase of the project which is due for completion in 2007. With the help of significant public sector support and seed funding, we are working towards completion of demonstrator vehicles in 2007.

The vehicle platform is highly modular and is intended, not only to provide the basis for very different vehicles to suit different markets, but also to enable end-users to change their vehicle from one form into another. E.g. from a City Car into a Pickup.

The new vehicle platform can achieve less than 90g/km of CO2 emission with a small diesel engine and CVT. It is designed with a range of powertrains including future zero emission options in mind and is intended to become the development springboard for the low carbon vehicle technologies employed. IQuad is currently working with key blue chip tier 1 suppliers and RTO’s in developing these technologies.
